Installation issues in corporate environment

Hi all.

I´m a system administrator in a large enterprise with aprox. 12.000 windows clients. Amongst others, I´m responable for the distribution of software updates (Operating System, MS Office and the Adobe products Acrobat and Flash). Since yesterday we have a massive problem with the latest security update for flash player activeX. As usual we pull all available adobe updates via SCUP (System Center Updates Publisher) and publish them in SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager). After that, I create an update group in SCCM, create a deployment package and deploy the package.

Unfortunately the update fails on about 50 - 60 % of the windows clients. The situation is very strange on those machines where the update fails, because the software center tells that the package is installed and in "programs and features" the new 13.0.0.182 flash player is listed. But the Flash control panel applet tells that there is no activeX version installed

Flash.jpg

There is also no Flash64_13_0_0_182.ocx in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash (and no Flash32_13_0_0_182.ocx in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash) and no other flash ocx at all.

We also distribute the new flash player plugin update in the same deployment package. It installs flawlessly.

Because of this issue I have stopped the distribution of the activeX update until I have a solution. In my opinion it is a bug in the installation package.

Our clients use MS Windows 7 64-bit EN SP1 with MS SCCM 2012 installed

Installing unwanted extras during updates

I am angry! Clicked to install the update for Adobe Flash Player my system said I should have and it also started installing google chrome and google toolbar at the same time. There were no boxes to uncheck their installation.  I managed to cancel the update when it was a little more than half way done.  What if I had been out of the room at the time???  Now I will have to go through my system to make sure those two items did not get partially installed.  HOW DO I INSTALL JUST Adobe Flash Player update?  Went to the adobe site but saw things like ActiveX control content debugger (for ie) & Plugin content debugger (for netscape) & Projector  ect.

installing an older version of fp

Hello everyone. I have a PC with IE 8 and Windows XP. I always used an older version of fp suitable for my old PC. In the last days, Flash Player kept auto-upgrading itself (without me doing anything!) to latest version (13). So I kept uninstalling and installing again the older version, but at the first connection to the Internet, it will always do the auto-upgrade.

So I searched an option in the settings manager to disable auto-upgrading but I didn't found it.

Today I wanted to try a CLEAN downgrade and followed the guide to uninstall Flash.

Then, when I launched the installer of the older version (I tried two different versions, 10.2 and 10.3) it opens a window where it is written something like (I translate):

"The version of Adobe Flash Player you are trying to install is not the most updated. Visit the Download Center to get the latest version."

And there is only the "exit" button.

How can I install an older version of fp? Please help me I need to solve this problem.

Why does Adobe force Chrome rather than allowing users to decide?

I have repeatedly had to uninstall Chrome because of the tiny checkbox that you don't notice that is pre-checked, rather than allowing users to decide if they want to check it.  It's pushy and bothersome.

Can we please get help with these errors in the FlashInstall.log file.  Please stop giving us the run around on "performing a clean install" and providing the link.  I can assure both FlashPlayerApp.exe and .CPL file are being removed during my script process.

My script calls another .bat to taskkill IE and Acrobat for 3 minutes as my install happens.  So nothing can be open during the entire process.  Rest of my script is as follows.

@echo off

@cd /d "%~dp0"

start kill_IE.bat

start kill_Adobe.bat

uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall activex

timeout 5

uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall plugin

timeout 3

echo AutoUpdateDisable=1 > C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg

echo AutoUpdateDisable=1 > C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg

exit /B 0

Everything is cleanly removed, no files are left over.  The FlashPlayerApp.exe and .CPL files I can assure you are removed successfully.  My output log produces the following in both SYSWOW64 and System32.

Here is the System32 Log (Which is Fine).

I can attest though Flash is working properly, but this is bothering me when you need to distribute to thousands of computers.  I don't like hearing answers of "Well as long as it works" when I need to relay things to my boss.

Thank You.

Help rolling out Flash Player w/ Auto Update

$

We need to upgrade all 2500 of our PC’s to the latest version of Flash.  We are using Win 7 and IE 9. There is a mix of Flash 12.x and a few already have 13.x   I have read the Adobe admin guide that goes over some of this, but I have some questions as the doc is incomplete.

  1. We need to have the software auto update to latest version without any user interaction or prompting the user. The last time we did a rollout with the auto update enabled, it prompted everyone.  And none of our users have admin rights, so will it install the latest?
  2. Part of the above, has anyone experienced these pop-ups on users screens letting them know there is an update?  Someone mentioned this is a problem Adobe is aware of and hasn’t fixed.
  3. Everyone has the flash player (for IE) and the plugin. When we install the 13.x plugin version, will it uninstall the old versions of flash?

Issues with FP on old iMac running 10.6.8

Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I am having issues with installing FP on my old iMac running 10.6.8.

It seems to go through the motions, but it doesn't appear to install properly, as some websites are blank.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Is there a possible solution?

If I am not able to make FP 13.0 work on this computer, I may have to revert back to an older version of FP.  All my usual websites worked well on FP 12.0, but not on 13.0.  Does anyone know where I can install an older version of FP?  I looked everywhere on the website but everything forced me back to FP 13.0, and there is no way of circumventing it.

Thank you so much for your help and attention to my dilemma.

Kind regards,

Thanks
